These two people have been playing D&D for 12 years plus, considering they said that in a domineering manner as if they were better than me, and at the same time a kid, probably 10 years old, put down a PHB he was going to buy but after seeing that he left the store.

They pissed me off. [QUOTE="EarthsShadow, post: 826205, member: 3531"] *Diving into the Sandbox.......Watch out!* Sands explodes in all directions as I slam into it... now that I am here, I gots some dings to say to ya'll also...*looks around, doesn't see anybody* Coke is better than Pepsi.... :D now that the truth is out, we can all get along. :D ----------------------------------------- time to get more serious -------- ok. this is a civil thread, more civil than most considering we are talking about a topic that could easily escalate into a flamewar, so this is remarkable. What is the topic of this thread anyway? how D&D is supposed to be? How snobby some people are towards others? How people make rash decisions when a new product comes out? I'm confused. So, I will say this...Just about every single person has some snobbishness in him or her, it depends on the situation...just like each person has greedy tendancies, everybody lies at one time or another, etc... this list can probably go on forever. As far as roleplaying games go, from only my personal experience some of the more snobbish gamers I have met are people that only play specific games only. One is Magic. People who play ONLY Magic feel they are superior because. Another is d20, especially D&D. Where I live, if a person does not play d20/D&D, then they are looked down upon and treated like crap because they are not playing the most popular game around. Another thing that bugs me is that I have met 'some' gamers that have played for over 15 years that will only play with people that are just as experienced as they are, and will not even consider playing with somebody considered by them, as a 'newbie.' To me, this is wrong. Another is the whole DM is right thing. On this one, the DM IS right as long as they are running their own game. However, many DM's have the tendancy to be bad players in other peoples games. It just happens. Same as doctors are the worst patients. There are many examples of this, and I am guilty of a few over the last few years, just like most of you. Just last week, I was down at my local gaming store, and I was talking to the store manager about games. I mentioned that I play HERO 5 and no longer d20, and two people that overheard walked up and said that I should get my head out of my ass because I was playing a stupid game. These two people have been playing D&D for 12 years plus, considering they said that in a domineering manner as if they were better than me, and at the same time a kid, probably 10 years old, put down a PHB he was going to buy but after seeing that he left the store. They pissed me off. They assumed that I was stupid because I don't play d20. Hell, that's all I did play for two straight years before I realized that its a boring game system for what I prefer. That does not mean I would never 'play' in somebody elses game if they were running d20. I am a gamer, I will roleplay any game (except Vampire because I hate Vampires), and their attitude is one I have seen over and over again over the years, the majority D&D players that only play D&D because its the only game they have played and they are too unwilling to consider that there are other games out there, and all other games out there are beneath d20/D&D and therefore are 'not deserving' of their attention. Maybe some of you have not seen this attitude in some people, and some of you probably have. It's a shame that gamers, role-players, have this kind of attitude towards others. *my reply to the two guys was basically this.
