Full Spectrum Warrior, the hit XBox tactical strategy game, has finally made its way to the PC. Earlier tonight, I picked myself up a copy, and will be posting my thoughts of the game in this thread. Despite what the screenshots may look like, FSW is a strategy game, not a shooter. The game is much different than games like Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon. You do not directly control any of your team members. Rather, you give orders to your team and the orders are followed to the best of each soldier's abilites. Because FSW is based on a training simulator used by the U.S. Army, the game requires you to use realistic small-unit infantry warfare tactics. You begin play with an in-depth tutorial where you'll learn how to make use of cover, concealment, flanking, suppressive fire, calling in support, and other realistic infantry warfare concepts. After completing the tutorial, you move on to the main single player campaign. The game takes place in a fictional middle-eastern country called Zekistan, where a brutal warlord named Mohammed Jabbour Al Afad is ethnically clensing the native Zeki people as well as providing safe haven to ex-Taliban and Iraqi loyalists. Following several warnings and failed UN resolutions, American- and British-led NATO forces vote to invade Zekistan to depose Al Afad, eliminate the terrorist element, and stop the ethnic clensing of the Zeki people. So far, I'm very impressed with the game. The gameplay is addictive, the graphics are excellent, the storyline feels like something straight out of real-life, and each soldier in your squad has his own distinctive personality that makes you want to protect them when they're in danger. I haven't tried out the cooperative mode yet, but I'm looking forward to that as well. So, has anybody else tried this game yet? Impressions?
