I just ran the 17th session of our campaign last night and it was a blast. The PC's are currently babysitting a young copper dragon trying to figure out the best way to return him to his mother after rescuing him from a tribe of kobolds. The party left him in a cave that they were using as a campsite along with some food while they explored a labyrinth complex nearby. The expedition was filled with amusing moments. The party discovered the corpse of a knight who had died of thirst in the maze, and a strange young snake worshipping woman who had set up a shrine in a chamber. The gnome hid behind the goliath and did the talking while the goliath just mimed the words (poorly :D). When the woman appeared puzzled and asked who the little leprechaun behind the giant was, the gnome let fly an attack instantly slaying the woman. The gnome does not like to be "sassed". Digging through her belongings, the half orc discovered a small golden holy symbol which he kept for himself. It began to whisper to him and convince him that he really, desparately needed to build a shrine and begin worship as soon as possible. Right about then the party stumbled into the chamber occupied by the minotaurs of the labyrinth. Battle was joined and soon all the minotaurs lay dead. It became time to search the adjoining chambers for treasure-for everyone but the half orc. The rest of the party had already moved down a passage and into another chamber before realizing that their companion was missing. The chamber was occupied by a shrouded and cloaked humanoid with a female voice. She offered the PC's a decent amount of treasure to escort her out of the maze and they accepted the offer. They found their half orc companion happily constructing an altar out of sundry items in the minotaur's chamber. He seemed content and at peace with his activities, so the human ranger strode in and punched him in the face. :) The battle raged until the half orc was finally subdued and bound. The "holy object" was lifted via mage hand and deposited on a floating disk for transport out of the maze. The cloaked female thanked the party for rescuing her explaing that she was under a horrible curse from a witch (hence the cloaking) and headed away from the party into the wilderness. The party thought that the situation was somewhat odd but they had more important concerns. They were uncertain of the mental state of their half orc companion and they still had a dragon nearby to find a home for. They dug a hole and carefully dropped the holy symbol in it and covered it up. The half orc missed his trinket somewhat but seemed to be mostly back to his old self. It was time to check on the dragon. The dragon was not where the party had left him. The rangers tracked him outside and soon the party discovered him stuck high up in a tree. He had gotten bored and was trying out his wings when he became stuck. The party suggested he try using his acid breath to free himself. One spew of acid later and the little fellow crashed to the ground largely unharmed but somewhat embarrassed. After recalling some history about the region and the most likely location for little Scaly's mother the party decides to head North into the mountains to find her. After a half-day's trek into the mountain pass the party discovers the remains of a small caravan camp that had been wiped out. The rotted remains of partial human and animal corpses point to an attack by a manticore, most likely a mated pair. Things just got rather sewious.:p Looking forward to next session and the continuing trek through the mountains. :)
