Fun with Char. Generation...

I am going to be jumping into a small game (probably only 2 PCs) for a little bit. We are going to start at 15th level. The other character is undoubtedly going to be a wizard of some sort, since that's what he ALWAYS is...

My question is what class complements a wizard well? With 15 levels to play with, I could conjure up an interesting mix of classes, or just play one straight up at 15th level. What would work well, tactically?

The wizard is going to be very versatile, so you need to be too.

Also, I doubt that 2-PC campaign will be the same as a 4 or 5-PC campaign. Are you planning on doing a lot of fighting / exploring, or mostly urban adventures?

A rogue with maxed out UMD or a Bard could team up well with a wizard in an urban setting.

If you're planning on fighting a lot (and living) you'll need someone who can hold their own and heal themselves, ie Cleric, Paladin or Monk.

expert 15...so you can make all the master work items for him to enchant. go into business together making magic items. screw adventuring. you might get killed.

hehehe...we could spend hours role-playing every time just running a magic shop! That's funny stuff...

Something with either healing or fighting would complement best. Paladin, cleric, bard, rogue with UMD or ranger sound good, druid. Rogue combo is nice for the trap disarming. Animal companions and familiars work best in small group parties.

Leadership is an easy but cheesy (IMO) option for filling out party niche holes.

I played a 2 person campaign where I was the wizard of the two and found the best person to be paired up with in most situations was a monk. I found the biggest threats to my wizards are usually fast moving brutes who like to charge into melee and/or grapple. Monks can be built to be pretty good against that type of threat.

I am kinda leaning that way....in fact, I've already started another thread asking people to tell me about their monks...

But I still want more ideas! Keep 'em coming!

Sorcerer, the wizard has all the campfire spells; mage armour, alarm, teleport. You have the action spells, fireball, cone of cold, lightning bolt. This should be because if you go against a fire giant or a blue dragon, neither of you are "left out" if the wizard hadn't prepared cold spells he would be high and dry, but the sorcerer has his back with lightning bolt. The Wizard has the handy spells that can be used in all eventualities, (not forgetting force spells etc).
