I have a new player joining my game next week who wants to play a ghost. The game is using 3.0e, but I think I'm going to start by using the ghost template from 3.5e (Telekinesis as a free action every round? Ouch)
I have a few bits I'd like to clear up though before I allow it (and to see in what form I do allow it)
- If a ghost possesses a target using its Malevolence ability, does it gain the creature's class-based hit dice, as well as its racial hit dice? (for example if it successfully possesses a human ftr20 does it then enjoy 20d10 HD for the duration of the possession?) - It seems to me that it would; I wonder how this would influence the overall balance of the character (since hit points are usually one of the big trade-offs for bonus abilities in LA)
- If someone were to cast Protection from Evil on a creature possessed by the ghost, would this suppress the ghost for the duration of the spell, allowing the host to act freely?
- Do bonuses from a ghost's equipment (e.g. a Dex bonus from ethereal gloves of dexterity) pass through to a possessed host?
