I'd like to thank you all for the terrific response to the EN World fundraiser; especially, I'd like to thank the folks at Circvs Maximvs, those at The Damnation Army (not-work-safe link) and, of course, those here at EN World.
We need to keep going, though; in addition to covering monthly hosting fees at $450 per month, EN World/CM's server is in need of a restoration spell. Here's the stuff we need to do:
If you can spare a few dollars, please donate! We realistically need quite a bit more for long term stability; we've avoided one falling tree, but we're not out of the woods yet! To make things easier, here's a short list of things you can do which'll help, in order of how much it'll help (i.e. in terms of how much of that will actually come back to EN World, and how quickly it will do so):
1) Donate directly by PayPal to russmorrissey@gmail.com. If you don't have a PayPal account, head over to Circvs Maximv's front page, and scroll to the very bottom. There, you'll see a donation box; it uses PayPal as its secure transaction handler, but doesn't require you to actually have a PayPal account: you can use a credit or debit card directly. This is the best option, as it gets the money where it needs to be immediately.
2) Buy a Community Suppporter Account here at EN World. These cost $19.99, last for one year, and give you access to search, private messaging, custom titles and so forth.
3) Buy EN Publishing's PDFs; if you've been thinking about that subscription to War of the Burning Sky, now's the time!
4) Buy softcover books from EN Publishing.
5) Grab an EN World or Circvs Maximvs t-shirt from Cafepress.
Thank you again - the response has been tremendous and heartwarming. But, please, don't stop donating: let's make sure we're here to stay for a long time to come!
I also want to take a moment to shout out to a couple of game companies who are helping out in their own way:
Thank you to both companies - their generosity and support is very appreciated. Please thank them by checking out their range of products!
We need to keep going, though; in addition to covering monthly hosting fees at $450 per month, EN World/CM's server is in need of a restoration spell. Here's the stuff we need to do:
- We're going to pay someone to revamp the site and server, fixing bugs, making things actually efficient and generally less archaic, as well as upgrading it significantly and making everything actually work properly.
- We need to upgrade a lot of the software, and have a lot more rewritten, for security and functionality purposes; there's also a bunch of functions we've wanted to add for years but haven't been able to afford it.
- The server desperately needs a new hard drive and a couple of other hardware upgrades, because it runs mostly at about 90% capacity and we're constantly looking for things to delete. You may have noticed slowdowns periodically as it approaches 100% capacity, and we've run around deleting things to make space.
- We're also looking at alternative hosting options - thanks to the many people who have offered advice and suggestions regarding this.
- And, finally, we need to cover hosting for the foreseeable future; even if we move the server, that's not something that can be done immediately.

I also want to take a moment to shout out to a couple of game companies who are helping out in their own way:
- Adamant Entertainment: "Adamant Entertainment would like to thank EN World for the valuable service that it provides the gaming community -- especially for us publishers. I know that we wouldn't be nearly as successful as we are if we didn't have the ability to speak directly to the large community of gamers gathered here. This site, bluntly, is critical to our business....To that end, we're going to donate 50% of our sales this week to EN World. From Saturday, May 19th through Saturday, May 26th -- half of everything we make, we'll set aside for EN World, and send along to Morrus via Paypal on Sunday. From PDF sales on RPGNow and DTRPG to direct-from-our-website sales of the MARS RPG -- half of it earmarked for EN World, as a thanks for the service they provide."
- Creative Mountain Games: "Creative Mountain Games pledges, through the end of May, $1 from every sale to help keep EN World afloat."
Thank you to both companies - their generosity and support is very appreciated. Please thank them by checking out their range of products!
