Yeah one of my many failings is that I rarely post a creatures description, because I never write them down (for my own use). This creature is a massive worm with a hard segmental body. It is named a funnel worm through its method of feeding. It has a large toothless mouth that it uses to grab its food, once it has done this a funnel like blanket of flesh and teeth shoot up its throat and attempts to surround its held captive to drag it down to its hungry stomach. Hence the two stage grab and swallow whole mechanic, with the swallow whole being an attack against either Reflex or Fortitude as the victim can use either brute strength or nimble movements to oppose it. The creature has Reach 2 with its Bite and Slam attacks. The problem with specifying that the creature uses a Bite and a Slam attack is that it cannot use its Bite attack if it already has a target grabbed. This would reduce the creatures range of tactics. The purpose of the Slam attacks push and knock prone is to give it a way of pushing secondary targets away so that it can move with less chance of opportunity attacks. The creature is really only interested in grabbing a target and swallowing it. The Slam attack is its second choice, using the mechanic of choosing any 2 basic attacks gives the creature a greater chance of grabbing a target as if it misses with its first attempt it can try with its second, while still giving it a viable secondary attack if it is lucky enough to hit with its grab. Yes I am very much saying that climbing out of the creatures throat is going to force it to gag and vomit. Its a nice surprise ;) You could use an explodes on death mechanic, but I don't really see this creature as doing that. Its a giant hard shelled worm, I think making it an exploding giant hard shelled worm might be going a step too far. I was going for a more Dune like experience, but on a much smaller scale.
