Inspired by this thread ( http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=194785&page=1 ), and the possibility of participating in an ENWorld gathering in Dallas, I was wondering:

Have you ever found out that someone you know online is someone you already know in RL?

As yet, I have not, but I know that there are people on this board with whom I have common acquaintences, so there is a possibility that we've met and just don't realize it.

never. :( and probably not even close. and i'm talking over 10 years of internet use.

Once. I found out that there was another person on the maxminis (D&D minis) messageboards that was also from Adelaide. When I sent him an e-mail to say hello and arrange to meet up to trade minis he said that he thought he had met me before. It turned out that we had played a session of Paranoia together at VorpalCon (the Adelaide gaming convention) a few months earlier.

Given how small the gaming community is in Adelaide (despite being a city of over 1 million people) I wasn't that surprised that we had met before though. I was just happy to see that there was someone else from Adelaide on the boards. So far I have only come across 1 regular member on EN World (Sound of Azure) that is also from Adelaide and we have yet to actually meet in person.
