On-topic: It could be interesting. I'd like to see how they handle a 'generic' sort of scifi, and if they can get enough 'generic' flavour to build anything futuristic. However, D&D has its own flavour and nobody is claiming that it can handle any kind of fantasy, so I suspect d20Future will have its own 'things done best, things done not so well' feel. F'rex, I don't like the way Modern handles computer hacking (too simple). Perhaps there will be a better, more 'Uplink', way in d20Future. Then again, perhaps they'll just thow in a Matrix style campaign where everyone's in VR and it works exactly the same as the normal rules. I don't know. One thing that would be good is the application of skills to multiple areas. For example, if I have high ranks in Hide, can I park my spaceship on an asteroid to avoid detection? Can I encrypt data on a network so nobody can find it? Or will I need new skills? Oh - and will I be able to play Doom with these rules? More on-topic, I'd like to be able to play in my own SF universe, which is a strange mixture of hard scifi, heroism, and a massive alien holy war where the deities are very real. Will I be able to make an attack run on a nircuti-class organic dreadnaught, fight off hundreds of 'ron with only my trusty gunblade, hack into a Magnus datacore, and keep the secrets of the Guild by messing with the memories of any witnesses? Boy, I hope so. But I have my doubts, because 'generic' all too often isn't.
