Hopefully I'll be able to get up a game with the rest of "my generation" in the rest home. . .
So when we hit the assisted living community do you think there will Large Print editions of D&D so we can easily read them? Finally a reason roll those dice in 2+ inch diameter size: they're easier on the eyes. At that point we'll need a lighter ruleset just so the books aren't thousands of pages long.

By 8th and 9th edition. Everyone who is more then just a very casual gamer. Will have DNI (direct neural interface) to the brain. The rules will be a shared program. The DM will view things from the third person perspective. As he thinks of something, the computer will add this to the data base of the campaign. The dungeons will be created by the DM as the players are adventuring.

While the players will mentaly take the roll of what ever character they are playing. When they look at eachother they will see the character. The characters perception of the world will be modified by "Computer generated skill checks". That way even if player knows what the monster is. When he views it while playing a character that failed the required roll. The computer will give then a false image.

No, no, we'll need to play using the same old rules as we are used to. Learning new tricks is hard - it'll be Return to Expedition to Castle Ravenloft using tattered copies of 3.5 books.
