(fyi) Tracking threads

Just thought I'd mention this for the sake of those who might find it useful. Of course, some/most of you may already know all this, I just saw someone else saying something like this was needed ..

I found this by accident while tinkering with my settings once this new board went active.

What it does: Track a thread you want to watch
(Helps if you see a good thread you might want to reference later but don't have the ability to search for, or perhaps just a thread on a topic you want to watch progress).

When you see a thread you want to watch, near the bottom of the thread, there is a link that says "Subscribe to this thread".

Once subscribed, that thread will be kept indexed in your User Control Panel (using the user cp button found near the top of most pages)

If it's not on your first page, it'll be viewable by clicking on the "view all subscried threads" link where it has the threads that have not been updated in a while. Those that have recent updates will be on that first page.

BTW, you can also subscribe to forums themselves. Basically, providing you with your own custom index page to the forums you want to read on a regular basis.

Just mentioning all this in case it helps anyone who wasn't previously aware of it. Again, this may not be new news to some of you, just thought since I saw one or two people saying that they "wished they could find thread X" or that they "wished they could search for this thread they read a while ago ..."

:-D

I'm bad at explaining technical things but I hope that made enough sense for those who wish to try / use it.

Yeah but once you subscibe to a thread doesn't it send you an email eveytime someone posts a reply?
It sends you one e-mail as soon as one poster posts to the thread; it doesn't send another e-mail before you log on to the boards again - at which point you become eligible for another e-mail.
