Don't get me wrong; Terry Crews and Vin Diesel are awesome, and I would gladly pay to see them headline a D&D movie.

...but involving a Game of Thrones actors is how you get me interested in watching a D&D game!

They're really pumping out actors for this event... still not many "big" names, but interesting nonetheless.

You know, I think in many cases, the supporting actors would be even more fun than the headliners. They may feel they have more freedom to cut loose while headliners have to protect their brand.

I think it's good for both sides. D&D has got a hook to be promoted, and the players not only also they promote themself, but if they can the type of character they can role then they can show different registers and this may help to avoid the typecasting.
