Primitive Screwhead
First Post
Greetings all.. for those of you who don't know there is a new Print On Demand outlet that focuses on printing maps...the Gamer Printshop
The main thing that attracted me is the printing of battlemaps. I am running a War of the Burning Sky campaign which comes with some very nice maps for handling the various combats. However, since they are very pretty and colorfull...
For the first sessions I used Kinko's, which turned out to be pretty expensive. The two small maps of the Poisened Apple Pub and the Conservatory cost me about $80... more than the entire campaign itself! Ouch. The maps were on standard copier paper, which is pretty flimsy and wont last for the next time I run the session.
For the second session I went with my room-mates ink-jet printer... no upfront cost by replacing the ink cartridges ran me $65 afterwards.
The maps add enough to the game to make it worth my time, with the various terrain effects and little need for describing the room. So I looked for another option.
ENWorlds own rom90125, aka Michael Tumey has started a new business that handles just this deal. His web page is just getting polished up...but I sent over the maps. He printed off and trimmed up the three maps I expect to see in the next coupls sessions. For those who haven't seen it, *one* of the battlemaps for the Indomitable Fire Forest is 48 sheets!
I expected this one map to cost more than my previous forays.. but the total price, shipping and handling included, ran me just over $80. It took about a week to get the maps back in and I am very happy with the quality of the print job.
After this Friday perhaps a couple of my players will drop in to comment on thier impressions
Conclusion: Gamer Printshop is a great resource.. check it out for your map related needs!
{*not* a paid advertisement..the only incentive I have for posting this is that rom90125 went out of his way to get my maps done before the web page was completely up and running
