Games by Setting.

Has anyone ever started a project to list game systems, RPG settings, modules, etc. by setting? The overwhelming majority of products have been lumped into very broad genres: Fantasy (i.e. Medieval Europe... actually Anglo-Frankish Europe), Sci-Fi (which may as well be called the Asimov-Clarke-Heinlein universe), Cyberpunk (Blade Runner), Horror (Gothic), etc. I like to take historical themes and settings and weave them together, but it requires a lot of browsing through published material new and old. So if I want to find published material on, say... nautical themes, in a medieval setting, and pan-Mediterranean culture, wouldn't it be nice if there were a searchable/filterable database or wiki that classified RPG products by publisher, game system, genre, setting (historical), setting (fictional), and theme?

I've seen databases on the net that do what you describe, but they seemed to be relatively inactive- the last I looked, they hadn't been updated in a while.

I didn't go looking for them per se, either. I found them via searches for obscure games or supplements.
