The girlfriend games. She even DM's! Admittedly it took me perhaps a year before she became interested. While interested in fantasy and the like she felt a bit embarrassed coming forward to roleplay and was bored by the combat - basically sitting in the background doing nothing. It wasn't until I came back from my self-appointed DMing hiatus that she truly started to like playing. Not that I'm a good DM - she probably just felt more comfortable. She's used to me telling big fat outrageous lies. It's one of those wasn't real good to start with, not exactly enthiusiastic first impression. Eventually I started really working her about her characters; with investment comes interest. After a little while of playing in short campaigns (Godlike - WW2 superheroes, Noir superheroes) in which there were only a few people, all of which she knew quite well did she start to enjoy the campaigns. As she's a transformers fan I bought her Mechamorphosis, which let her run a few games. She's currently working on a grand medium fantasy game using the Blue Rose system. I find it interesting that it's rather common to see the females on the board to really not care about the rules at all - and in fact have some difficulty with it. I can see why rules aren't exactly important, but you do have to know them - especially to GM. Make the girls GM! They'll learn pretty quick. My GF didn't know (or care) for the rules until she realised what a monstrosly munched up character could do. She handles my need for cannons well, though :D In an aside note, Mechamorphosis is the weirdest system I've ever glanced through.\ EDIT: When I say females on the board, I should say females *mentioned* on the board. For ones on this messageboard I wouldn't know.
