I have tried, failed, and given up on running an RPG on an actual holiday, like New Years.
However, within the last 7 years or so I've found a group of friends who enjoy board gaming enough to do it regularly and during New Years Eve and Day or July 4th, or on someone's birthday. That is in fact part of my New Years plan this year.
This group also played Call of Cthulhu the Friday before Christmas.
My Pathfinder group is playing today, which is after Christmas and before New Years, so it fits within the holiday time. Of course, we did NOT play during the summer, when the sun is up longer and presumably we have more vacation or free time which I find annoying, but oh well. Family first and all that.
