Message: <blockquote data-quote="Imaro" data-source="post: 3756264" data-attributes="member: 48965">Well I've said it in other threads, but right now, for me, Runequest is giving D&D some serious competition, especially with the free SRD (so I don't have to buy the companion or monsters if I don't want to).  I like swords and sorcery type fantasy and the runequest system, IMHO, does this better than D&D.  The rules are pretty easy to understand and the game has as much tactical play as D&D.  My group can create the exact type of PC they want without having to buy class x, and character creation is a little faster than D&D. Furthermore the Eternal Champion line is a complete rules set and setting for $30 so it's more economical in that for the price of the PHB everyone in my group can get a full copy of the rules in case they want to run a game or just play.  Other wise just download the SRD for free.  I have no interest whatsoever right now in the DDI, and the more I hear about it(purchasing random mini boosters...pleeease) the more I'm turned off.  After we finish our Monte Cook's WoD campaign we are going to give the Elric game a spin, and if it works out for the group then I see no reason to buy into D&D 4e.</blockquote>
