Slowly the large mans huge dull brown and spotted black wings closed in behind him as he mumbled to himself, his words nearly silent as if speaking to himself within his own mind. kneeling to one knee the tall man bowed his head to the alter and as he picked his head back up his bright blue eyes glimmered in the torch light. Silent for a long moment, Duvalis rose and turned, his head looking back to the alter before him as he spat on it's surface. "To those who stood before me... I have laid them to waste. For those in my way to come, may they be forewarned. The gods have taken the one thing from me that kept me tied to the morals of this plane and all the others with it. You have unleashed me, and I will find the one who has taken my wife from me, and you will suffer the same fate, that much I vow on my life itself." Duvalis uttered as he turned and faced a portal that now rested before him, stepping through it was time to finish what he started, even if it meant he had to vanquish the deity responcible for allowing his wife to be taken from him.

Duvalis met his wife Harah at the age of 17, he himself was taken aback by her beauty and her grace as he watched her dance for the first time on leave from his military service. He and those under his command had decided to take in dinner and entertainment at a local inn and theater, where his soon to be wife headlined the show. She was an exotic dancer from a lands far off, her skin was much darker than his which only added to her allure and her mystery. Her dark eyes glimmered in the torchling as the curtain came up for the final act, her vales fluttered about her as her hips so seductively swayed to the drum beat in the background.

Duvalis' lips and mouth were dry and parched as he gazed upon the ravishing beauty before him as she started to bounce from one end of the stage to the other in an elaborate dance of vales and sways. The curtain came down and all the man could do was watch the blue wall of fabric for minutes after the show has ended not able to believe anything in this harsh and crule would could be so beautiful.

After the show Duvalis made his way backstage, he had to meet this wonder of both dance and beauty, and with his stature and his rank was able to meet Harah and her trainers that night. At first she was not impressed with Duvalis' brute strenght and typical manly personal, however something told her to at least give him a shot and after several dates and outings she was able to bring out the man behind the military mask and see the real true caring man underneith. Duvalis' had only known for so long the hard life of a man in a leadership role and could not show his softer side for fear loosing the loyalty of his men. It was Harah that again was able to bring to bare the real Duvalis, the man he truely was.

With this marriage of military might and soft compassion came a cost though, facing his hardest mission yet, Duvalis had to face an opposing general known more for mind and agility, than brute force like all the rest. As Duvalis locked horns with this worthy advasiary he was seriously wounded in battle and his opponent escaped barely clinging to life himself. Shipped back home to Harah the general Duvalis was well looked after, a spear wound to the side was a reminder to him and she that he was in fact still human and still not invincible, wings and supernatural ability or not.

Weeks past and the wound healed nicely however, his pride has taken a mortal blow. In the weeks to follow Duvalis slipped further into a depression and Harah grew increasingly more worried at his state by the day. Neither he nor she knew what or when if ever he would regain what he had lost that day in battle.

Not able to take anymore of his own state one hot summer day Duvalis stepped out on his porch to take in the sunlight on his face and his body hoping it might lighten his mood even a little and give him time to think on what could be done for his state, he saw his wife Harah practicing her dance routine on the patio below. Her body gleaming with sweat from her movements in the glaring summer sun and as he watched her movements he started to mimic some of them from his position above her. At first he was one giant akward ball of movement but slowly after a few weeks of secretly watching her practice his movement became more and more fluid and graceful. Day after day his depression started to lift as he learned agility and grace of his own, and once his wife learned he was secretly trying to learn from her she and he would routinely practice together and together he learned to dance. In the coming months Duvalis learned to combine his combat prowess with dancing agility to create something new and infinately more useful to him in battle.

Soon though Duvalis was called back to service and in doing so 'the Valkyrie' as his men called him dominated his opposition after returning to command. Battle after battle the man lifted in ledgend, sending scores of men to either their deaths or running routed and scared from the battlefield. It seemed nothing could stop his forward momentum, yet after every battle all he wished to do was be back at home again with his wife and his life he missed and loved so much. Duvalis vowed one more victory to crush the opposition and he was done with military life forever, he told his superiors this would be his last stand and after this he was done for good, he was heading back home where he belonged. There were enough men under his command to take his place, though to fill those boots, more than one would have to step forward. True to his word he slain the commander of the opposition, and in turn winning the war for his faction, and afterwards held true his word one last time as he gave up his title and his rank and spread his huge wings to fly home to his beloved.

When he arrived home though Duvalis' life would be changed forever. The Valkyrie stood before his plot of land he called home, only to see a colissial ring of scroched and barren earth. It was as if the world itself ceased to exsist in this ring, save for the blankened remains of a housing foundation and sparing ashed remains of tree trunks. As he slowly stepped into the ring of destruction he could feel the life energy trying to leave his body but through shear force of will he took one pained step after another for the center of the primal carnage. Looking from one spanse to the other on either side of him, there was nothing, no life, just complete and total death and destruction. Looking down all that remained of his beloved was a pile of bones, skelatal hands covinging now empty eye sockets and Duvalis could almost feel the fear and panic in her stance. Falling to his knees, his head hit the ground before the ash and bone before him as he weapt and bellowed screams of complete destrought fustation and anger.

His grief sent the powerhouse of a man over the edge, for months he wandered the world below as he hovered above it on sorrowed wings vowing never to touch the earth below that took his love and his life, and forsaken the gods above who *dared* take from him the *one* thing he ever wanted or asked for for his service. Nearly a year to the day after his feet left the land he called cursed the Valkyrie caught a glimpse of an alter below and after a long thought the man swooped and landed with forcefull thud to the earth just before it.

Duvalis stood before the alter, his eyes were closed and his chest heaved as his breathing started to calm.
