He’s made progress in the Vietnamese martial arts class Jessica got him started on, and therefore has learned Combat Martial Arts, giving him a little more flexibility for exactly how he’d like to bust heads. Also thanks to the class, and Jessica’s help, he’s finally learned to speak Vietnamese reasonably well. Lastly he’s improved a little bit on the business aspects of running the garage (profession), and gained a little more confidence in dealing with gang members (intimidate).</span></p><p></p><p>T-Bull has lived in Fifth Ward all his life, just a block off of one of the more major (but not a main) streets. He grew up the child of a broken home, living with his mother and younger sister. He works at Johnson’s Neighborhood Garage just a block away from home, a job he’s had since entering Phyllis Wheatley High School. With Mr. Johnson too old to do much more than the books now, T-Bull acts as the manager. He uses most of the money he earns to put his sister Kia through college at U of H.</p><p></p><p>Gangs have always been a part of his life. Both of T-Bull’s best friends in high school were killed by gang violence. When he got old enough, he decided to do something about it and keep the gangs out of the neighborhood however he could. </p><p></p><p>There was no way to defeat the gangs head on, however, so what T-Bull ended up doing was organizing his own group out of the neighborhood kids, and working to drive out any gang members within the few blocks that they considered theirs. If there weren’t any gang members living there, then rival gangs wouldn’t come through to shoot up the neighborhood. They also started cracking down on solo bullies, and generally taking care of anything else the police couldn’t.</p><p></p><p>But there was also a need for some way to keep the gangs from getting angry. T-Bull took two tacks on this. First, he does free work on the cars of the local gang leaders in return for them keeping their people out of the area. Secondly, he’s kept careful records of all the gang-related information he’s learned over the years, and made it clear when he had to that if anything ever happens to him, his family, or his people, copies will go straight to the police.</p><p></p><p>Now T-Bull spends most of his time at the garage, which also serves as the headquarters for his ‘Neighborhood Watch.’ They have a separate phone line for people who need help, and there’s always a few guys hanging about who can go pick up people who need a safe ride, etc.. There are also a few cots in the back room in case someone needs a place to stay for a night (and T-Bull is often there so late that he sleeps there too). He’s hoping to get his mom moved out of Fifth Ward soon so he’ll feel okay with taking people there, in addition to having her somewhere safe.</p><p></p><p>T-Bull has a girlfriend of one year, Jessica Nguyen. They met when she had car trouble on the highway and had to walk down into Fifth Ward for help. She studies law at Harvard, and has a brother who is a police officer.
