GenCon 2025 TTRPG announcement speculation thread!

darjr

I crit!
Haven’t had one of these in a while.

WotC is going to be there in a big way, new dndbeyond functionality is to be announced. I’m sure they’ll announce a lot of other things too.

Daggerheart? What could be up their sleeve?

Anyone else expecting cool stuff from other companies?!

What’s definitely absolutely going to get announced. In our humble opinion of coarse.

I assume we're going to hear next year's MTG D&D sourcebook re-announced and probably at least some strong hints about the 2026 publication schedule, plus a general idea of how the 2024 edition is doing overall.

Looking forward to hearing some advance reports on both Heroes of the Borderlands and the Pirate Borg starter adventure, Trapped in the Tropics (although everyone's missed their chance to play with Tom Morello, Vince Vaughn and Joe Joe Manganiello on that one).

Free League said they are making an announcement so im guessing....

Conan: now that's its partly public domain

Mad Max: because I love it.

Red Dawn 1984 conversion for T2000: Wolverines!

Andor: A man can dream

Spelljammer via license from WOTC: because WOTC just wants to do right by us all

Daggerheart: release of the announced homebrew kit and likely some supplement announced. While not GenCon per se, the Critical Role live show in Indianapolis is also expected to announce campaign 4 to switch systems from D&D to Daggerheart. At the very least it’s expected to be said when a ”state of the role” will be broadcast, detailing when campaign 4 starts and which system it’ll use.

D&D is retiring the DMG, because their new AI app renders DMs obsolete?

Ironically, I'd love to hear about a companion app that allows one to role-play Light No Fire parallel to the CRPG.

Ooh, ooh! Stephen Colbert's new gig is in the role-playing world.

That would be a very big deal. It will be very interesting to see if this one happens. It would mark a big change in the landscape for RPGs.

Brotherwise Games: New details onto the full retail release of the Stormlight Archives RPG later this year, and on next year's Mistborn RPG, and details on the open license they are goijg to use for the rule set for the Plotweaver System they have developed.
