RUIN? Gospog-not a problem. I'll send a general information packet out before gencon but here is the basics. Ghost in the Shell is set in the future. The line between man and machince has blurred. Cyborgs no longer science fiction. Cyber brains allow for direct connectivity between others and computers. This lead to Ghost Hacking (the movie) were a persons concious could be over written and controlled by the hacker. Cyber crime is quite different from what it is today as everything is computerized. People have ports at the base of their skulls for connections. Cybernetic bodies and parts were first tested in war time medical studies. Technolgy progressed so far that the human body became obsolete. "However, it expanded no further; lengthy and costly maintenance, difficult machine-flesh consistency, and mental repulsions were too much of a block to make a mass penetration." This mental repulsiongave birth the the Stand Alone Comlpex. People that remained pure and thus were cut off from much of the world (TV show). So you have cyborgs, some in the traditional "Human form" some not. Cyber brains that are great for the PC's because as long as your brain survives you can always get a new body (although quite expensive). Humans with cybernetic parts and the like. It's just a quick run down. Here is the link for the TV series now airing in Japan. It's very good. It may sound like Shadowrun but it's deffinatly not and No magic. http://www.productionig.com/Ghost_TV.html That is were things like the Tachikoma and the Thermoptic suits in my Gear thread in the modern board come from. It's a good site. There are short movies, art and design pics, and more story information. I could lend you a copy of some of the movies.
