Not me! But..... I wasn't there, and haven't yet been able to find a single person who took notes, but the following are second-hand reports from some who did attend. (NOTE: originally collected from a number of postings to the REALMS-L list. Also, previously posted to the FR WotC boards) ----------------------------- From Jason Hatter: A) HAND OF FIRE, the new Shandril novel, is out. Just got my copy signed by Ed, who is looking good. He looks less stressed this year than he did last year, which is nice... I will tell you that HAND OF FIRE, the final Shandril Shessair novel, is good. More of the same, but there is a *reason* for this. I'll also tell you that I was in tears at the end of the novel, which is embarassing simply because I was at the YEAR OF THE DROW seminar (which just finished about 20 minutes ago) when I finished it.... also B) CITY OF THE SPIDER QUEEN is out. Haven't had a chance to really look at it yet (too many other things going on) but it looks nice. About the same size as Silver Marches, written by James Wyatt. A brief look over shows the same high quality looks as the rest of the 3E Realms material. Beautiful. C) Ed tells me that he's turned in an approximately 8000 word Web Enhancement to Julia Martin, for Silverymoon. It deals with a "low life trader in harp strings [ed. note: I THINK that's what Ed said. It was a little noisy in the exhibit hall], and the two streets of "his" neighborhood, down by Hunters Gate. I'm looking forward to seeing it, when it finally comes out. I notice that I didn't remember to mention one other product that is currently in the works. Rich Baker is working on another product that, but "the subject is Unapproachable....and it's interesting that I'm facing East as I'm telling you about it." It will include information on the Demonlands as well (Narfell, Impiltur, etc), as well as information on the Drow under the plateau...which the red wizzies don't have as locked down as they think they do.... There were also hints about a novel, along the lines of Cormyr:A Novel, about Waterdeep. I asked about the possibility of a historical short story collection that could be used as legends, and there were hints that, aside from the stuff that will be in Races of Faerun, something along that lines may come out... ----------------------------- From Brian D. Gute: Well, there was the mention of a novel about Elminster's daughter - at least one of the many. Ed also mentioned that there are over a dozen more articles on the Border Kingdoms sitting on the editor of Polyhedron's desk. They're trying to decide what to do with them now - possibly they'll appear as web articles. Ed's contract with Wizards (just the book department?) has been extended through 2007(?) if I'm remembering the details correctly.'' The City of the Spider Queen adventure is designed for characters of level 10. James Wyatt said that upon completing the adventure, his player's characters were all 18th level. So it really is a fairly lengthy adventure. The module has a brief time table which states "on day X, this is what's happening"; I believe it covers 150 days, with notes for what happens after that period of time. Unfortunately, I left my copy at home today so I don't have it with me at work to confirm that.... I know there were a few other things mentioned between What's New in the Realms and Elminster Speaks, but I'm having a hard time remembering just now and didn't take notes. ----------------------------- From Malcolm: There was some talk about a higher level module after the Spider Queen one that was released Gen Con. I don't recall the name off hand, though I bought it on Thursday.. Looked excellent.. Actually Underdark specific.. Starts in the Dalelands and then you go under, it's a spin off from the new book "Dissolution" - which is awesome !! Bob Salvatore is releasing a new Drizzt novel, called "A thousand orcs" in October or November IIRC.. The artwork was Drizzt slicing and dicing A LOT of orcs :-) Looks good.. The War of the Spider Queen books has started with "Dissolution" which I am almost done With - FABULOUS.. Oh yes, I was told that the books may be taking on darker themes, now that 3e is sliding more towards the re-introduction of evil and the bad guys.. That's all that comes to mind right now.. Maybe as my mind regains some normalcy, I will remember some other bits.. Ah yes, the 3rd and last Liriel & Fyodor book will be out soon.. Real soon..
