Interestingly, this came out right on the heels of another press release about how George Lucas was suing GenCon for some money he believes was owed to Lucasfilm after the last Star Wars Celebration. Reading through this press release, it seems like GenCon is filing for bankruptcy protection after some "licensed" event went sour.

So, reading between the lines, clearly, the evil empire of Lucas is trying to crush GenCon.
