Gencon Road Trippers Needed!

Ghettognome and I are thinking about driving to Gencon this year, and we need 2 other people to help with the drive! We're planning to rent an SUV and leave Dallas Wednesday evening, arriving at Gencon Thursday morning. We'll be coming back Sunday evening, arriving Monday morning back in Dallas.

I've always wanted to road trip to a convention, as I love both road trips and conventions. Shades of the Knights of the Dinner Table and their famous road trip to Garycon, although hopefully without as many odd jobs. :)

Who's with us!?

We're leaving here (Dallas) Tuesday morning and heading back Sunday night or Monday morning depending on how whipped we are then. :) We've been considering renting an extended van, we might end up doing that...wanna ride with us?

road warning for GenCon road trippers

just a word of advice for folks going I65 north to Gencon.
Theres tons of construction for like 6 miles on I65 as soon as you cross into Indiana from Kentucky. If your passing through Louisville be careful - the I65, I71, I64 junction is a dangerous place.

Anyhow during morning and evening rushhour your best bet is to take I64 into Indiana and then go east on I265(in Indiana not kentucky) then back onto I65. You'll bypass the daily 3 to 4 mile backup we get each morning and evening.

And once again remember the I65, I71, I64 junction is a killer(literally), they even broadcast a recorded warning on cb channel 19 every 3 minutes. I been all over the USA and thats the only place I know of where they broadcast a warning over the cb like that.

David and I might be interested, if a short detour on 121 to The Colony/Plano isn't a problem to pick us up (sis-in-law lives there and might be providing babysitting).

We should know by Origins if she's available to take on the kids for a few days. Would that be soon enough for you?

I'll be there to man the Kenzer booth and run the Hackmaster World Championship along with some Final Days demos. Comin' from NorCal, though, and on my Shadow 1100 if things go right. Two thousand miles on a pylon isn't real comfortable so I don't expect any riders. Bag Knight, I'll see you at your booth or you can ask for me at mine! Love to meet the gracious Paladinwife, too!

PS: If I take my truck, I'll have room for one from the Central Valley in California or someone enroute (Interstate 80). I have two weeks off, so I may leave early. I'm flexible, though.
