What lrsach01 said was pretty much on the mark. Dragoncon is a mixed scifi, fantasy, comic book con. They usually have a ton of events and fun things to do. Some of the viewing rooms run all day and night. The years I attended there was a pretty decent gaming area set up for RPGA games and other organized games. There are a couple of LARPS that go on during the convention. There is a good sized dealer space.  There are always a lot of people in colorful costumes. One year I saw Gwar at the con, and another there was a pro wrestling exibition. The whole thing takes place in the heart of downtown Atlanta surrounded by great bars and restaraunts.
