That sounds like a hassle. I've never experienced that in DCC. Most of the judges in the community seem to feel much the same as I do, if their "lols" over the idea of arguing RAW is any indication. If a player said "But that's not what the book says!" I'd point them to page 314. Bullet points 1 and 4... "The judge is always right. Let the rules bend to you not the other way around." "Fear no rule. I know you will homebrew this game: I trust it will remain recognizable but different from as I conceived it. Such is as it should be." I guess I must have been lucky in that the players and judges understood the admonitions listed in DCC. All due respect to Matt and Stephan, aka GrapeApe and DMBadWrongFun, I wouldn't describe RAW as one of Goodman Games' "main" anything. The highest viewed video of that series doesn't have 800 views. Oh, wait. I'll watch that one again...now it has 800 views. No, me handwaving RAW doesn't change it mattering to many players. But that's just not a thing in the DCC community or much of the wider OSR community. Homebrewing, hacking, and rulings not rules are by far the norm. Sticking with RAW is the incredibly rare exception. Awesome. It's a wonderful game. If you like what DCC does, then it's great for campaigns.
