It doesn't bother me if someone dislikes something I like, or dislikes something that is popular. How they express that opinion matters though. I have had people here express a contrary opinion than mine on a movie or book where it goes beyond saying they dislike something, think it isn't cool, to attacking people who feel different (and I think that is out of line in these conversations and quick indication that a person is relying on insults rather than giving a real opinion). I think if you are doing it win a way that belittles the other person''s taste, insults their intelligence, etc, then that is pretty rude. But if someone doesn't like something I do like, I want them to give their honest opinion. I like the Ewoks for example, but I know a lot of people can't stand them. Disagreeing about that and about how good RoTJ is, is entirely fine with me. Even if it is a contrarian opinion. I'm okay with that. I do think if someone is going to say 'that's uncool' or 'that is overated' I would at least them to give their reasons because that goes a bit beyond just their instinctual feeling about the thing (if something is overrated, that means other people are overrating it so I would want to know why the person feels that's the case)</p></blockquote><p></p>
