Message: <blockquote data-quote="gban007" data-source="post: 9598911" data-attributes="member: 56488">Thought here may be a better place than father derailing the other thread [USER=6780330]@Parmandur[/USER]  but for me TLJ wasn't a bad movie for me, and I quite enjoyed it at movie theater outside of not liking what happened with Luke (too wedded to the old expanded universe version I fear) , but later on reflection I had a bit of a different view, and I think it was driven by tonally it didn't feel as good a fit fornl Star Wars - whether that comedic opening bit with prank calling making Hux look a complete fool (something that would have fit well in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie i think), or how many of the problems were self inflicted, e.g. the attempted coup , giving the bad guys the ability to see the cloaked escape ships etc, whereas in most Star Wars movies while there is internal strife, it is more black and white with the obstacles coming from the bad guys as such.  So in retrospect felt a good movie, but bad Star Wars movie.  Whereas episode IX looked to course correct back to typical Star Wars tone, but made a particularly bad movie in the process.  I also find it interesting people calling the OT bad movies, when Empire Strikes Back is apparently the best star wars movie in rotten tomatoes, and A New Hope tied for second with The Force Awakens, with only RoTJ scoring relatively low.</blockquote>
