Mmm, some very good suggestions. 'Mana' and 'essence' look to be the best for what I'm going for, probably mana a little more so.

Arete is not an "energy" stat in the way I think the original poster meant. It's more a "success" stat. The closest thing to an energy stat in Mage is Quintessence, although that's used more to boost things rather than power them in the first place.

I would hope so. It would be a very weird word to use for energy. Arete is Greek for "excellence" or "virtue" or possibly "pwnage."

Certainly so-- all I said was that it had a nice, exotic ring to it. However, the amount of energy one has, when fully charged, could be used as a measure of Arete, and the energy itself could be an Arete Pool.

It's no weirder than "Karma".
