Geomancers in Ravenloft?

Anybody have any thoughts/advice on how the prestige class from Masters of the Wild Geomancer's drift attributes should be modified in Ravenloft? Anybody have an expanded list of drift attributes?

The following text caught my eye in the class description.

As the geomancer progresses, however, the effort of gathering magic through the earth takes a physical toll on him, making him more and more like the land and its creatures.

Oh, the very idea makes me giggly. At the very minimum I'd call for Powers Checks for using power directly from the land. To offset, I'd have the effects amplified somewhat for necromantic or other evil type effects.

Another option would be madness checks. Being a geomancer in Ravenloft is an exceptionally BAD idea.

The relevant text would seem to open up the poor character to just about any physical change the DM's twisted mind can come up with.

Most of the physical changes listed in the RL rulebook for failed Powers Checks would be particularly appropriate, or "the usual": enlarged eyeteeth (fangs), scabby or barklike skin, enlarged fingernails (claws), catlike eyes, change in posture, unusual hair growth (length, location, abundance), size change in one limb (shrink or grow), that sort of thing. Nothing that gives the character a bonus or extra power, but nothing that gives the character a penalty or disability either.

Also, if playing with the 3E Ravenloft book, don't forget to gleefully increase the geomancer character's Outcast Rating, making it *much* harder for the character, and anyone associated with the character, to get along with the locals.

On the subject of Powers Checks, it might be fitting to apply the 1%-per-spell-level check for *any* spell the geomancer casts, doubled or tripled for the "naughty" spells specified in the RL rules (all Necromancy spells, etc.). And if the geomancer should cast a "naughty" spell for a truly selfish or Evil purpose, well then perhaps the road to Act of Ultimate Darkness is a little more tempting for a spellcaster linked intimately to the land in Ravenloft....

Hope the character in question is the morally upstanding sort. Heh. If you're in need of further ideas, you might try the message boards at the official Ravenloft d20 Web site: www.kargatane.com.

Doesn't the Geomancer pick his own drift choices normally? I was wondering if anybody has done out expanded charts of effects (horror slanted would be best but most anything could work).

It's an evil PCs campaign in Ravenloft, he's a 10th level drow cleric of xan yae wizard with a wight template thrown on top so his outcast rating is already ridiculous. We just got access to MotW, I'm considering letting him retcon into the class but maybe not. I'm thinking I would let him pick his drifts and then work the connection to the land connection and build off his choices. The increased connection to the land angle opens him up to other things, maybe I should pick up blight magic from MEG.
