I hope this is going into the right forum.

The long-promised Gestalt book is actually nearing completion. As a preview, here's a bit of art from three of our artists (art posted with permission):

We've also got some spectacularly good art from Chris Stevens, Storn Cook, Eo Ahnix (a local SF artist who's doing a great job on some of our aliens) and Sketchopad, plus some color maps by Keith Curtis!

Gestalt: The Hero Within is an original superhero campaign setting where, about fifteen years ago, archetypes in humanity's collective unconscious came to life, giving birth to superhumans. Nearly fourteen years in the making, The Hero System version of Gestalt: The Hero Wihin is 400 pages (or thereabouts) and released on PDF. Pending approvals, expect it to be released some time in late Winyer/early Spring. A Superlink versiom will also be published in Spring 2007,

Further details (publisher, price, etc.) will be released when final arrangements have been made.

Very cool, Scott! You are one busy dude, switching gears between the Biblical lands and modern Superheroes. :)

There are similarities, as evidenced by your tales of the sons of Jacob in last month's Targum. :-)

If I've heard of this, I'm not remembering it. So tell me more!

Are there going to be stats for the characters in the book? If so, using what rule system?

It's a campaign world I've been working on since 1993. Snippets appeared on the old Red October board at the time and I've been campaigning and building on it ever since,

Here's the sales pitch:

Gestalt: The Hero Within
Where Men Become Myth - and Myths Become Men

“Gestalt” is a unique world of superhuman archetypes. Superhero comic books contain worlds of Archetypes, individuals who represent important symbols. They are populated by characters who represent concepts such as Heroism, Strength, Speed, Cleverness, The Elements, Kindness, Cruelty, and Ambition. All fiction deals in archetypes or symbols, but comic books apply them more consciously than most fictional forms.

The Gestalt campaign takes the idea of "character as Archetype" one step further. In this campaign world, Gestalt-Earth, the characters are the symbols. A physically powerful superhero might not just be a strong guy - he could be an embodiment of Strength. A Gestalt martial arts master isn't just a superb fighter - he's also a human representation of his chosen art. The master lives its philosophy at all times, getting into situations where he demonstrates his art and its virtues, championing those who follow the art, and using the art to advance his or her personal fortunes.

I should have a lot more information on format, price and release date (etc.) by next week, once I finalize arrangements with the publisher. The book is huge; I haven't finished the Hero layout yet, but currently it's hovering around the 400 page mark. There will be two versions, one for Hero, the other for Superlink. Yes, there are lots of character stats, including for some of the ones in the attached illos.
