By giving them what they specifically ask for, keeping in mind that what they ask for cannot be given without some sort of detriment. I once offered three wishes to the only two PCs who showed up to the session, and all three were Wishes that were beyond what a Wish could give without detriment. Least that's how I called it. You be the judge: The Rouge wanted to be able to do Constitution Damage akin to the special ability they get later on, but what he said was "Drain"...and because I ruled that a Wish cannot give you class abilities, his soul got attached to the Shadow Plane, and people that die from his Con Drain have the chance of coming back as Shadows. The Fighter wished for a +1 Holy Flaming Frost Shock Greataxe that would be no detriment to him. He meant himself and his allies, but you get what you say, and because there needed to be a detriment, the Axe of the Lonesome Warrior was created. Granted, a Wish could make the weapon without detriment...as long as the caster paid the XP cost, which the Djinn wasn't going to do. But then there's that talk on Spell-Like abilities and XP, and I still have to read this discussion... And then I made the two PCs Undead when they asked to be immune to diseases, poisons and the like. FUN!!!:D So...first a Will save to see if they believe the illusion. Then a percentile roll to see if it really effects them anyway, then another Will save against Trap The Soul if it happens to work? That's just...*blown away* Granted, that's still calling upon a high level caster, and I don't know where you store a creatures soul if there is no gem to put it in, but still...*blown away again*
