I've seen it

I saw this last night with a friend. We were both blown away by the visuals and the very deep plot. The animation all around is better than the first one. The computer animation is vastly improved and blended much more seamlessly with the tradition cell animation.

This movie is even more cerebral than the first. While there are some action sequences there aren't as many as the previous one, which isn't detrimental in my opinion. To get the full impact of the movie you really need to closely pay attention to and examine the dialog, specifically the conversations that Batou and Togusa have with other characters and especially with each other.

I have a feeling that many people won't like it because of what may be described as overphilosophizing and constant quotation throughout the movie. If you want nonstop action or a simple, easy to follow plot, save yourself the irritation and don't bother to see this movie. This isn't meant as a put down or trolling, just fair warning. Also, it is subtitled, not dubbed.

Saw it last weekend. I actually found the plot thread easier to follow than the first one, but maybe that's just me. :)
