A few sessions ago a PC died. The player brought up the idea of having the PC return as a ghost, using the Ghostwalk campaign rules. Being the DM, I decided why not, so I let the PC "manifest" as a ghost. However, we didn't really have a good understanding of the rules at that time
After reading the rules a bit (and having a hard time understanding them), I decided that the "ghost" PC was coporeal. Basically he has 1 ghost feat, but since he is not "incoporeal" he can not make use of it. So far he has received little benefit since he is coporeal. All he really gets is a feat he can't use yet, no xp penalty for dying, and a nifty hole in the neck that he can show everyone.
Anyways, I am starting to regret saying yes to allowing him to play a "ghost". While he doesn't seem like an unbalancing PC, I am still not comfortable with the rules on how to handle a Ghostwalk character in the Forgotten Realms.
We are not using the city of Manifest within the campaign, just the rules (at least what we can make out) for playing a "ghost" character. The rules have been modified a bit, mainly ignoring a few things here and there. I plan to use this as a test run, but most likely this will be the last "ghost" character a player can use until I understand the rules better.
Any tips or suggestions?
