I had the opportunity to dig this caterpillar out of a children's learning store animal section. $2.50 US for this, a smaller caterpillar [just fits on a GW cavalry base], butterfly emerging from chrysalis, butterfly unfurling wings and butterfly in flight.
Very quick paint job while I web surfed. Filed worst of the rubber mold lines. Jabbed an exacto knife into worm bottom to hold it. Primed brown, painted head orange, like MtG Tacklemaggot, and drybrushed snakebite leather onto the body, drybrushed a bone color over the body lightly, and painted mandibles the same color. Then magic washed dark brown craft paint over the whole thing several times.
Took a 30mm x 60mm masonite base, put down a whole bunch of flock and sand mixed with glue to build up the base. Drilled small hole into worm and base for attaching wire & glued together while base material wasmoist for form fitting base. Sprinkled sand and flock onto the base.
Darn it, I talked too long, the tacklemaggot is running away!
