filth fever and mummy rot are o.k., but i would like ot knwo what homebrew diseases enworlders have come up with.

please include how it is spread, save dc, incubation time and damage(s)

edit: whoops, forgot to add mine- Piscatitis (fishmongers flu) piscatitis can be caught from the bites of various aquatic predators. save dc 15, incubation is 5 days.

during the 5 day incubation period the afflicted loose 1 point strength per day since infection whenever they consume non-fish meats. at the conslusion of the 5 day incubation period, if the afflicted has not been cured the disease becomes permanent.

Bloody Mouth - This illiness is contracted from the bites of undead, charatcer devolops sores and splitting of gums from which produces bleeding. Starts to show in 3 to 5 days and if not treated will result in disfirgment of jaw.

DC 12

1d6 lost to Charisma

Wonderful thread title.

Mystic plague: A subtle disease that has no overt symptoms. If the character fails initial save (fort save DC 20), he or she is infected. The character will be unaware of the infection whether the save is made or not. Once per month thereafter, an additional fort save (DC 15) is required to avoid losing 1 point of wisdom. If this loss causes the player's bonuses to change in a way that is noticable, he or she is informed of the lost bonus, but not the cause of it. If this save is successful three successive months, the disease has run its course the character is cured. The disease itself can only be detected and cured by magical means. The disease is passed from character to character whenever a carrier or the disease casts a spell on another character (whether friendly or enemy). Each such spell requires a new save.

Farmers lament.
Field workers contract this mostly, it is transmitted by small insects found in the soil of certain valleys in the northern hemisphere.
Day one of infection -2 to con -2 str.
Day two of infection -2 to con -2 str 15 hp's subdual damage.
Day three of infection -4 to con -4 str 30 hp's of subdual damage.
Day four Fort save or die DC15
Make an additional save every day thereafter.
Symptoms include a rash on the back, and black rings under the eyes.

Lake Fever

This disease is carried by the mosquitoes that breed around the shores of Lake Sabin. It can be prevented by drinking a cup of Bluewood Resin tea once a week. Trouble is, Buewood grows only in the Barand desert far to the south. The folk who live around Lake Sabin rely on the three caravans each year that come up their way from the Barand.

Once bitten by a mosquito carrying Lake Fever, the person must succeed at a DC10 Fortitude save or catch the disease. The incubation period is one week, during which the person will show no symptoms. Additional Fortitude saves may be made each day. If all are failed, at the end of the incubation period, the person will be overcome by fever, muscle aches and vomiting, and 1 point of CON loss per day. There are three ways to recover at this point. 1. Succeed in a DC 15 Fortitude save, which will mean your immune system has conquered the disease and you will begin recovering the next day. 2. A Remove Disease spell. 3. Letting the disease run its course, which it will do in 2d6 days. Of course, if your constitution score drops to zero before then, you'll be pushing up the daisies.

A person who has naturally survived Lake Fever (through methods 1 and 3 above) will have a lifetime immunity to it.

the problem i have with diseases in D&D:

they ignore chronic, congenital or very long onset

the ones in the books are infectious diseases only.
