Though it is falling out of favor as a name nowadays I feel like "Witch Hunter" is appropriate. I would say "Mage Slayer" as an alternative but that's a feat I think. Vanguard sounds pretty good, really as long as the theme is elements a lot of things could work. I like battlemage but a 3/4th caster feels like it is in conflict with the idea of making it an arcane half-caster. Feels like this concept is more achieved by additional spells to the Bladesinger. Maybe giving it Arcane Recovery might work but I wouldn't put in higher-level spell slots. I am good with each class having a 'simple' subclass. The problem is if the class itself is as boring as the Fighter but if it has a simple subclass for people who prefer a basic striker it still had all the complications of being a half-caster which the Champion doesn't get. This makes me think maybe the subclasses should have bonus spells like Warlock or Clerics to add a default flavor into each one. Give this one mobility, Duskblade smites, whichever the defender one is a bunch of damage resist/shield spells, elementalist a custom list for whichever element you choose, the nullifier magic-blocking stuff, etc. What would the focus be mechanically? Would making the Elemental Herald/Vanguard dragon-themed fulfill this request?
