Good day everyone Context on the title I'm currently running a Vecna Campaign adapted from a module from 2e called Die Vecna Die. We are nearing for the party to enter Vecna's tower. Once the player reach the top where Vecna battles Iuz the evil in the module there is a massive magical battle between the 2. Just reading a sections there are 2d6+10 ogres that will attack the party if they approach the battle between the 2 villains. So either the party sits on the side and watch the battle occur between the 2 demi-gods or attempt to interfere on one side or the other. That being said get down to my idea, I have a player playing a cleric of vecna and is an almegamation of different races stitched together he doesn't know he is basically a flesh golem. Before that character he was a rogue but got badly injured he now would like to switch back to the rogue which I'm fine with. I was thinking of having vecna transform the cleric into a boss monster and have the player operate against the party just so that isn't just sitting out of the fight since he loses his cleric and then when they move to the chapter 3 he can play his rogue. My general question is about having the player play the boss while vecna and Iuz battle it out in the background. I thunk I would talk to the player in advance to let him know what's going on when we get to that point and perhaps send him the stat block of the monster so he is ready. Has anyone else attempted something like this?? Thoughts and comments
