GM Wanted for Star Wars PbP game

To All,

I'm hopeful to find a dedicated soul to run a game for a character concept that I have been knocking round in my head for sometime. The very brief version of the concept is of a Jedi Hunter, I’m not overly worried about time frame other than I don’t really like the NJO time frame and I suspect that the Old Republic time frame would be the best choice.

I have no other players lined up as the concept probably works best in a solo environment…

Also I prefer story to mechanics and I suspect that the game will carry a dark tone to it.

Thanks for reading,
BS

I've been looking to give running a game a try again - how quickly were you looking to get this underway?

If you're willing to give me a week or two to sit down and re-asborb some source material and read through my books again, I'd be willing to give this a go, either as a one-person or a small-group (probably no more than 3) story.

If someone else comes along who's ready to do it earlier, then they'll welcome to go ahead and start it up as well, but I'd need some time to get everything together first.

Your delay sounds reasonable enough. :D

Cool, I would like to see the direction of the game before we look at expanding the player spots. I want to make sure my character would be sociable before waiting the time of others. :)

Understandable. My major concern is reacquainting myself with the Star Wars rules, which I haven't looked at in a while - not horribly different from D&D, but I've been playing primarily M&M (on ENWorld no less) and Final Fantasy XI... so I need to put myself through a refresher course.

Any particular sourcebooks you want me to take a look at? I can get access to pretty much anything you'd like given a little time, and since I'll be running this for you, I'd like to know what options you're interested in having available so I can read them, acquaint myself with them, and prepare for them.

I suppose a big question, for story structure and theme, is what kind of hunter are you? Are you hunting only dark Jedi, or Jedi in general? Or are you a Jedi hunting dark Jedi... the term "Jedi Hunter" is open to several interpretations... :D

Understandable... I looked 4 months ago and most of the games I was in was M&M, I look today and their mostly Star Wars. (ENworld has always had a strong M&M following, or has for the last 2 or so years. :) )

I only have the revised rulebook, so that's a given but I hope to use stuff from the hero's guide (The best none core book to get), the dark side book, arms and equipment, and I'm sure you would benefit from the Power of the Jedi book.) I also hope to use an idea I saw in a Jedi Counseling not to long ago. :D

Well, yes I guess it is.... :D

It really depends upon timeline, and I would like to keep away from the movies as much as possible, so I would go with Old Republic.

I’m thinking a normal man, aka non-force user, with a strong hatred for the Jedi and though the classes are meant to be balanced I think the balance is broken if their isn’t the ethics of the Jedi to consider so I think it’s a better game if he’s chases down good Jedi. (only cause a well-educated man can neutralize the Jedi’s most effective tool/weapon his lightsaber. )

Yeah - staying away from the movies is fairly important to me as well; I don't like to mess with canon too much, as some people are all for it, and some people are vehemently against it.

You're hunting down the good ones... so you're a criminal in the eyes of the Republic, because you've made a "career" of hunting down and eliminating 'police officers.' I will keep these things in mind as I read materials and starting jotting down notes. Are you a killer for hire, or just a vagrant anti-vigilante?

Agreed, its also less known and gives more freedom... and in the scheme of things if my guy kills a few Jedi its no big deal and probably isn’t even a foot note in the long history of the galaxy. :)

Yeah, I don't see much way around him being a criminal... I'm thinking he lost his beloved to the actions, or maybe the lack of action, by the Jedi Order. (I have a couple of ideas on how this could happen.) Also it might be better if his desires where limited to a few and not all of the Order… A man would be hard pressed to commit genocide by himself. (Of course why some of the Jedi are being eliminated his something he would hope to keep quite at least until he has next victim is checkmated.)

I think as much as a killer for hire appeals to me it might be better if he's a simply trader transverse the stars to deliver his goods, of course even a simple trader can have his own adventures.

I’m think he “dresses up” for his Jedi Hunting… (I want his face known to those he hunts...)

Well, this seems like a nice idea. I was just thinking up a character concept that would fit well alongside his. I'm new to the Star Wars system, but I just got the Core Sourcebook PDF. If you'll have me, I'll give you a write-up of my character concept. (might need some help with statting out, mechanics-wise)

Thanks. :) At the moment though we're not looking for another player, my character concept is quickly turning more anti social the more I think about it... I don’t mean he’s insane just a true loner who’ll die or succeed by his own skill... :)

That might change but I do doubt it… :D

Also it would be wise not to advertise your pirated copy of the rule book their… I am a moderator here and ENworld has no tolerance for piracy. ;)

Thanks for looking,
BS

No problem. Just my unfulfilled need to get into a PbP coming in. Have fun with this. :D
