I was thinking specifically of 40k Space Marines...the weakest versions of them - obviously Custodes and Primarchs would be higher. As I mentioned previously most Sci-fi Troopers are just basic humans), but the 40k Space Marines are bio-engineered and what I would call 'proper' Kardashev Scale II soldiers. I remember watching a video someone did saying how many Astartes were worth a Custodes and how many of those were worth a Primarch etc. Although I couldn't find it on a quick search there. But a jump of 20:1 is a CR +20 jump (as long as the baseline is CR 8 or higher). Albeit the problem of diminishing returns is hard to accurately pin down - even though I am sure it exists. In my system I think a CR +16 monster (worth 10 characters of the lower CR) will shrug off the basic attacks of weaker foes and may possibly one-shot opponents with even its basic attacks. But the counter to that is to use Swarm/Unit rules in groups of more than 10. So 10 Fire Giants might be collectively a CR 24 Encounter, whereas 100 might be 'on paper' a CR 40 Encounter but halving the effectiveness after the first 10 would make a 'Swarm' of 100 Fire Giants more like CR 32 which seems more reasonable: x2 = CR +4 x3 = CR +8 x6 = CR +12 x10 = CR +16 ...then halve effectiveness every x10 x30 = CR +20 x100 = CR +24 x1000 = CR +28...so 1000 CR 1/2 Orcs would be a CR 14 'swarm' By the way did anyone watch Blood of Zeus Season 3? I finished it last night - fantastic last season although goes by very fast since its a lot of action.
