As the elemental planes reordered and gave structure to Cradle, the Dweller at the Gate both sees and feels the doorways of time lock into place. Inconceivable! its dominion over its own creation had been usurped! Othor, the one that had acted with Xak'tsar to seal away the Dwellers birthplace, had stolen time itself, perhaps irrevocably, with nary a fight. Despite this outrage, the Dweller at the Gate still knew every permutation of every possible future. Which future would come to pass was largely a mystery, but knowledge of the myriad potential ones provided an insight that could be expoited. The Dweller knew that it was possible to gain vengeance upon its vastly more powerful enemies, though only one permutation in a thousand saw Othor and Xak'tsar laid low. The only chance lay in an indirect approach. The Dweller began to sow seeds. The raw magic Bea'ral had given the elves had reacted unpredictibly when the Dweller at the Gate attempted to turn things to its advantage. In part it had been successful, elves and other humanoids tended to use spells to control the forces of magic rather than the inherent use aberrations exercised. Yet, the Dweller was not satisfied. It demanded tribute from those that made use of its domain for their personal power. The Dweller at the Gate looked into the deep structure of the universe and reached out to change it. From now forward all spell formulae would require the caster to send a small amount of their own energetic attention to the Dweller and a slightly smaller amount to Bea'ral. That done, the Dweller stops opposing elven spellcasters. In spite of Taranthil's trend towards what it considered to be nonsensical ideals of righteousness, the Dweller supports the growth of the city, aiding its libraries and universities accumulation of lore. The rulers of that shining fortress may be paragons of virtue, yet that very goodness makes it hard for them to harden their hearts against their children. And those children, for alltheir varied forms, have one thing in common. They are of the Dweller. The Dweller at the Gate makes no move to prevent the elves from teaching their monstrous children morals, but lends strength to all within Taranthil that honor it. Those that place its icon, an open portal formed by tenacles, on an altar, find it easier to acquire knowledge. OOC - Attempts to draw the same sort of energy a prayer would from anyone who casts a spell, sharing a third with Bea'ral. Withdraws opposition to elven mages. Maintains connection with the creatures that are the children of elves. Helps worshipers in Taranthil acquire knowledge.
