Good 1st level modules

Wanderlust

First Post
So, I may have the opportunity to introduce new blood into the fold, but I was wondering if the kindly residents here could point me in the direction of a good adventure starting at 1st level and is either a free or relatively inexpensive .pdf. Any suggestions?

Thanks a bunch,

Necromancer Games Crucible of Freya was excellent.

A: its a cool adventure, though Im not sure of its availability on PDF. It was priced quite reasonably in print form though. In sum: Orcs steal minor artifact....PCs go after the orcs...PCs get back minor artifact...only to find there's darker stuff going on in the orc lair than just orcs. The adventure also has some interesting unrelated encounter areas nearby. A caveat regarding unrelated encounters: If your players are new, you may need to give them a lot of advice on what they can handle and what they can't...some of this stuff is MEANT to be run away from.

B: There's a lead in adventure available for free from the Necromancer games site. Its called Wizard's Amulet.

C: Theres also a great free web enhancement detailing the areas around Fairhill. (password protected. You need the password from the module. The guy from Necro posted it freely on the boards a while back, but I'm not sure of the ettiquette of anyone just giving it out in public.)

Anyway, when you combine the three, you get enough stuff to keep your group busy for months. Lots of odds and ends that aren't tied into the other stuff, so you can freely pick and choose what you want to use.

Hope this helps

While I also highly recommend NG's Crucible of Freya, one of my favorite 1st level adventures, though, was "Trouble at Grogs" from Dungeon #4, by Grant and David Boucher. Great stuff!

Mad God's Key by Jason Buhlman - Dungeon #114 (Greyhawk)

Raiders of Galath's Roost by Skip Williams - Dungeon #87 (Forgotten Realms)

Both excellent campaign starters.
