Good *Audio* Fantasy or Science Fiction

The BBC full-cast production of the LOTR is fabulous.

And Gaiman's reading of "The Graveyard Book" is fantastic.

I recently listened to a recording of Ursula LeGuin's "Lavinia". Not fantasy, but fantastic. It is a telling of the Aeneid from Aeneis' second wife's point of view.

The audios of the "Hunger Games" were enjoyable, if not the very best in the world.

And, if you want to drift from audiobook to radio play, there's a few sci fi classics from Alien Voices - helmed by John de Lancie and Leonard Nimoy, with casts that include a stock of Star Trek stars! Check 'em out!

I'll echo that Alien Voices is awesome.

My tastes may be lighter and different from others here, but I enjoyed listening to Redwall, the Eragon series and Harry Potter as audio. I also have a dramatic reading of the Lord of the Rings by Mind's Eye (have the Hobbit as well, but haven't listened to it).

Don't forget
Star Wars Radio Plays --the original trilogy done for NPR by Brian Daley. Mostly original cast or their primary competition. This is how Mark Hammil got into voice acting when no one would cast him is regular movies or TV

And Big Finish Productions...
They have Doctor Who, Blake's 7, Tomorrow People, Sapphire&Steel, Stargate, Highlander, Bernice Summerfield, Dark Shadows, and so many other options that you could (depending on your time) spend years going through it all. In fact, most of the best ideas for the new Doctor Who TV show are poorly pirated from BFP stories. I've only run into about 4 that I didn't like, out of nearly two hundred.
