My love of mosters as a child was why D&D hooked me as a DM. There were soo many cool children's 'monster' books in the early-mid 80's.
Slick marketing mechanic too! The monster kids grow up with will always be the groundwork for thier flights of fancy. This way D&D has a direct in road to their hearts and minds.
It is about time for a new D&D Cartoon and toyline! Common WotC, Chop, Chop! D&D minis icons would be small potatoes compared to a full on toyline.
