Grappling a Ghost?

This is just weird, but....

Can a creature with a magical enhancement of +1 or better to its unarmed attacks grapple a manifested ghost (subject to the the 50% miss chance)?

How would you handle this situation? It nearly came up in my game Friday!

How I would handle it? Any grappling attempt would cause unarmed damage, but fail. There is just nothing that could be held. The ghost could simply go through you!

I've answered my own question...

From the SRD:
Corporeal creatures cannot trip or grapple incorporeal creatures

I just, don't recall seeing this line in the Monster Manual. Maybe its an erratta'ed item. ;)

What happens if you go etheral to fight the ghost? It doesn't have a Strength score...

(And yes, the difference between incorporeal, ethereal, etc is still confusing me. :()

How about Ghostform (T&B, p.90)? Or Ethereal Jaunt (MoP, p.96)? Or Undeath's Eternal Foe (MoF, p.130)?

No chance. A ghost can go through you, why shouldn't two ghosts can do the same to each other?

You can damage them, but you can't hold them.

Not sure about the later (my books are at home), but Ghostform or Ethereal jaunt will certainly let you grapple someone on the ethereal plane (like a ghost, manifesting or not).

By a strict reading of the template, the ghost is incorporeal on the Ethereal Plane as well, but that probably wasn't the intention :)
