My gaming group just recently finished our longest running Campaign (it's been going for about 9 Months)as a result of a spectacular blunder. To fully understand this blunder you have to know a little bit about the setting in which it takes place. The Campaign Setting was essentialy a futuristic Earth similar to that seen in the movie Wizards (Earth becomes a Fantasy World after a Nuclear Holocaust) with elements of Forgotten Realms thrown in (primarily Deities). Our party had been on a quest to collect Three Artifacts which were scattered throughout the globe and we so far had collected one of those. Our blunder however was achieved during the pursuit of the second of these artifacts which to our knowledge had been locked away in some ruins used by Elves to store things they deemed dangerous or did not understand. In our exploration of this ruin (which out of character we came to realize was a facility to manage an Anti-Matter producing Super Colider) we ran into a Dracoliche. Upon our defeat of the Dracoliche we began searching for it's phylactery and soon found it in the form of a large sphere with a glowing energy inside of it. And so naturally we set about to destroy it and keep the undead dragon from returning. Our two spell casters then cast Shatter and Disintegrate upon the sphere, resulting in a catastrophic explosion, a TPK and the realization that the sphere was in fact a container for Anti-Matter. OOPS! Anyway, I thought I would share this gigantic blunder with everyone and see if anyone else has had any colossal oopsies in their D&D Campaigns.
