Does anyone know of any good resources for running a campaign set at the height of the Hellenistic or Roman Eras?

OGL Ancients covers Greece and Egypt. Very good in my opinion, though somewhat lacking in background this can be picked up from a variety of other sources. Check out GURPS greece for extra background.

In summary, modified combat with "Dodge and Parry" and nasty wounds. Skill based magic system.

Also, here is a gazeteer of mythic greece http://www3.sympatico.ca/ccamfield/games/greece/

To my knowledge, ancient Rome has yet to be done for d20. There was the old AD&D Historical supplement (with the Green cover). There may be a fansite out there that has material but I am unaware of one

There are numerous supplements out there that cover Ancient Greece, but most are set in earlier eras.

Green Ronin is coming out with a The Trojan War for their Mythic Vistas line.

A PDF publisher called SteamPower publishing has put out a PDF called the Gates of Troy.

SeanKReynold's site has notes on his ancient Greece campaign. IT's set at 500 B.C. and may be close to what you're looking for era-wise.

And further down the Ancient Lore line we have a series set during Alexander's campaigns (september-ish) and various stages of the Roman Empire (2005 some time, and probably focusing on the early Imperial/late roman periods, which are where my specialties lie).

I don't think Hellenistic Greece has really been covered by anything - rpgs seem to focus on the mythic or the classical, which is a shame considering the richness of the period. The only game (non-d20, but free) that I can think of is Warlords of Alexander, by Paul (Mithras) Elliott.

Finally, its not quite what you're after, but SteamPower are also planning on releasing Hellenica sometime in 2005 - its Hellenistic, but somewhat alternate history in that they have magic and steam technologies ...

Hope some of that helps

Yup. the old 2e Green cover historical supplements had one for Greece and one for Rome. They also had one for the Vikings and one for the Crusades.

I've got both the Greece one and the Rome one. They were decent. Made a good supplement to my history book collection.
