Geoff Johns is full of those.

When the GL Corps was destroyed, back in Emerald Twilight, the reasoning was to make the one surviving GL "unique".

But GL is currently one of the best superhero comics out, and there are 7200 GLs in the universe (patrolling 3600 sectors).
