Green Ronin June Release Dates?

When are the Unholy Warrior's Handbook and Fang & Fury (vampires) coming out? I needed these books years ago, lol, and it's taking forever. They sound awesome; I'm dying to get them!

Let me guess... last week of June?

We should have Fang & Fury at Origins next week, if you'll be there. Should be in stores towards the end of the month. Unholy Warrior's Handbook is at the printer and proofs have been approved. Probably won't actually ship until the first week of July though (though sometimes the printer does finish earlier). Watch our front page for updates.

The GR release I am looking forward to is a july release -- Mindshadows, an Indian-flavored psionics-heavy campaign setting. That sounds spiffy. I ran an Al-Qadim campaign with psionic PCs years ago and it was a perfect match. :)

Chris:

By "the end of the month," do you mean June (which is next week) or towards the end of July? I really want this book if it's anywhere near as incredible as your PLOT & POISON drow book was. Your company is one of the few I get excited about like this, because you've built up a reputation for putting out quality products, about half of which I own and use regularly (or at least try to incorporate at any opportunity even in a small way). Even in the products I didn't buy, I recognized good stuff I'd like to use (just not in sufficient quantity vs. cover price for me). I don't think I've ever picked up a GR book and said "ugh, complete crap!" which is more than I can say for most other d20 publishers, including WoTC (but not FFG).

As to Origins, I go to conventions maybe once or twice a decade, and only if they are within driving distance of my house, lol, which the Midwest and East Coast aren't. I don't get excited about being stuck in a room for days full of strangers dressed up as klingons brimming with overpriced "collector's items." That's the impression I got from every convention I ever went to, but then again, I'm a homebody and a cheapskate, so maybe it's just me, and of course, it's different when you're an exhibitor. Plus, all the conventions near me are hardly major industry events, so maybe I'm going to the wrong cons! :D

Iron Chef,

I've been to lots and lots of conventions and I'd have to say it's "hit or miss".

I've found that smaller conventions can actually be more fun, but then, this is my first year going to GenCon and seeing what a "big convention" really is.

Also, from your comments, I'd advise being careful what your conventions consist of. Go to a convention that is just RPGs (maybe some miniature gaming) as opposed to one that is combined with "generic sci-fi". Those tend to bring out the Trekkies. ;)

One of the best conventions my wife and I have ever been to is actually an animation convention with some gaming. We don't espescially enjoy Anime, but we met the coolest people there, many of whom played RPGs.

Good luck and have fun! :)

Sorry, it's looking more like early July for stores (but certainly not the end!); I should have looked a caledar. I was trying to be vague for two reasons. First, although the book was supposed to ship from the printer on the 20th, I haven't gotten confirmation from the printer that it happened. Second, our books go from the printer to Osseum, our sales and fulfilment house. Sometimes, Osseum hangs onto a book for an extra week to gather up orders. Unfortunately, although we give distributors four months of warning about books, they usually don't get in ordres until the very last minute so the extra week is sometimes necessary.

If it weren't Saturday, I'd just call the printer, then Osseum and figure out a concrete date. I figure they deserve a day off though. :)

Well, thank you very much. We do try to put quality first. I think you'll enjoy Fang & Fury. There's a lot of fun stuff in there.

Before I got into the industry, I used to go to GenCon religiously. I liked it for several reasons. I got to play games that I didn't play at home. Nearly the entire industry is there, so I was able to find books and games that were simply unavailable at my FLGS. The auction was also very cool. And it's a great place to meeting people.

The tie-in monster book, Monsters of the Mind, is at print now and we should have that at GenCon. Unfortunately, Monsters of the Mind and Mindshadows got caught on the 3.0/3.5 divide, as we had originally scheduled them for June/July. Obviously, having a 3.0 monster book and a 3.5 campaign setting tied into it is not the best of ideas, so we had to update the monster book to 3.5. This pushed Monsters of the Mind in July and Mindshadows into August.

I have one eye on Black Sails over Freeport. It's much bigger in scope than I expected, but I'm hoping it will turn out to be cool.

Four authors though, thats a lot of cooks in that kitchen. And none of them are that guy who wrote the first (and IMHO, best) Freeport module. What has that guy been up to lately? Huh. ;-)

Though, if I remember correctly, two of the authors were involved in the 2nd and 3rd Freeport modules. That's probably a good thing. Hopes are high again after being disappointed with Hell in Freeport.

That guy runs the company. :)

The one real downside to where Green Ronin is at this days is that I don't have enough time to do design work myself. I envy Monte in that way, since he's set up Malhavoc to maximize what his design time. These days I do a lot of development work (which basically means making sure manuscripts are up to snuff before they go into production, especially the rules sections; in extreme cases this means redoing all the stat blocks for an entire book). I also concept new products, evaluate proposals, find freelance writers and editors for projects, concept our ads, write press releases, deal with licensors and licensees, and of course write checks (a freelancer favorite).

I was hoping Dragon Fist would be out by now, but it's taking a lot longer than I thought for the reasons above. If I have my druthers (and I certainly enjoy my druthers), I'll be able to hire a d20 line developer some time over the next year. That would be delightful!

Yes, Toth and Simoni are the authors of Terror and Madness in Freeport respectively. Kirby worked on the Freeport hardback and Denizens of Freeport too. They have the right resume for this book.

Hey, Chris:

Can you say what the ECL of the vampire scion is? All I've read so far is it is "balanced for play" and that could mean a lot of things. Thanks!
