Grell - OGC or not?

I hope this is the right forum to put this question...

Does anyone know if the Grell ended up being classified as OGC? I know that it made it's first 3rd Ed appearance in RttToEE, and was then put in the MMII, but didn't some of the creatures from the MMII end up as OGC content?

The grell is not OGC. The only monsters from the MMII are the Razor Boar and Scorpionkin (name?) from the back of the book, and only because they originally came from the Creature Collection by S&SS.

The only WotC open content is the stuff in the SRD.

Hopefully they open up more monsters with the 3.5e SRD.

Well, presumably the whole MM will be open other than a dozen or so monsters. I don't how many (if any) new monsters will be in the 3.5 MM, though. I doubt that they're making any monsters beyond those open content any time soon.

Monsters of Faerûn being out of print, there's hope that at least some of its content may end up added to the SRD... (Bullywug! Bullywug!)

But grells, I doubt they would, even if and when the MM2 would be OOP. Like the Beholders of the Mindflayers, they are iconic alienoid D&D monsters, and thus would stay closed content for IP reasons.
